[edit] Synopsis

The episode begins with Applejack and Big Macintosh looking out at the apple farm discussing that the apple bucking season is about to start. However, Big Macintosh is currently unable to participate as he is trying to heal from an injury. Though it isn't known what the injury is, he has a bandage all around his waist and when Applejack pokes at him, he looked as if he felt tremendous pain. Big Macintosh mentions that Applejack wont be able to finish the entire harvest in enough time without any help, though due to Applejack's stubbornness, she bites of more than she can chew and is going to attempt harvesting everything by herself.

A bit later, she begins starting her apple bucking, but just before she starts, a stampede of cows come running through town. Everyone in Ponyville panics and begins running around to find cover except for characters like Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie. When the herd gets close to the city, Applejack and her dog named Winona come to the rescue and herd the cows away from the town to safety. The cows were frightened by a snake, which caused the stampede. After everyone congratulated Applejack for saving the town, she heads back to Sweet Apple Acres to continue her work.

The next day, Ponyville is seen creating a party for Applejack's courageous act in saving the town. This shows all of the main ponies helping put up decor to celebrate giving Applejack a trophy. The party begins with a speech by Twilight Sparkle, whom gets cut short of her speech by Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash talks about how great of an athlete Applejack was during the stampede and talks about how she will help her with her stunts. After Rainbow Dash gets off stage, Pinkie Pie jumps in to tell everyone about how Applejack is going to help her create cupcakes for every pony in Ponyville. Before Twilight gets the chance to speak, Fluttershy starts speaking about how Applejack is going to help herd the rabbits together for the count. Applejack shows up after people begin wondering why she is late, she walks over to her trophy and begins to try and drag it back to Sweet Apple Acres. Though, due to her working for so long, she ended up falling asleep on the stage.

Applejack is seen in next apple bucking and having issues hitting the tree due to her being very tired. Twilight Sparkle takes notice and tries to ask Applejack about why is she doing it by herself. Applejack immediately responds by saying that she does not need any help and says she wants to finish this on her own to prove to Big Macintosh that she can do it. The next scene shows Rainbow Dash wondering where Applejack is, because she was suppose to help out Rainbow Dash perform her new trick. When Applejack shows up, she explains that she dozed off after apple bucking and was late. The trick consisted of Applejack jumped from a very high point onto a catapult to fling Rainbow Dash into the air at an amazing speed. Though, this backfired and caused Rainbow Dash to lose control of her ability to fly. Crashing into the library at which Twilight was studying in at the time.

Due to her inability to hear correctly after being hit in the head by apples, Applejack has a difficulty making cupcakes with Pinkie Pie. This caused every pony that tried a free cupcake to become very sick because of the ingredients. Though, Spike ended up enjoying the cupcakes thoroughly. This caused Twilight Sparkle to find applejack and attempt asking her again to get help apple bucking. But, Applejack still refused to accept the help and headed out to help herd the rabbits for Fluttershy.

You see Fluttershy talking to the rabbits, telling them to gather in the middle to do a count of how many rabbits there are currently in Ponyville. However due to Applejack's lack of sleep, she is very impatient with the rabbits to come out and gather together, causing the rabbits to run from her. Eventually Winona and Applejack herd them into a corner. But, instead of the rabbits cooperating, they end up stampeding Ponyville, creating a lot of havoc and minor destruction like flowers being eaten. After this incident, Twilight Sparkle gives up being subtle and will not take no for an answer for help. Applejack eventually finds out that she has only finished half of the apple buck season and caves in for help.

[edit] Letter To Princess Celestia

Twilight Sparkle ends the episode by writing a letter to Princess Celestia:

Dear Princess Celestia,
My friend Applejack is the best friend a pony could ever have, and she's always there to help any pony. The only trouble is, when she needs help, she finds it hard to accept it, so while friendship is about giving of ourselves to friends, it's also about accepting what our friends have to offer.

Your faithful student,
Twilight Sparkle
