Scootaloo is one of the three characters that make up the Cutie Mark Crusaders, who is tomboyish and idolizes Rainbow Dash. She is first main appearance in the show is in the episode Call of the Cutie, she she is seen hiding at a party with Sweetie Belle. Out of the younger generation, she is one of the 3 ponies that does not have her cutie mark. This causes Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle to create the Cutie Mark Crusaders to find their cutie mark.

She is shown later on in Stare Master, when they spend the night over at Fluttershy's house to try and find out what their cutie marks. This was the first episode dealing with the Cutie Mark Crusaders. In the episode The Show Stoppers, it shows Scootaloo is very proficient in doing tricks and riding on a scooter. She uses her wings as sort of a motor to move around quickly while on the scooter as she has yet to learn how to fly. She is also a great dancer shown when Apple Bloom was having trouble perform a spin, Scootaloo does it flawlessly.

Scootaloo is a little bit like Rainbow Dash, she is very competitive and athletic, which is shown by her excellent scooter skills in the episode The Show Stoppers. Scootaloo has yet to master her flying. But, she uses her wings for propulsion on her scooter skillfully. She performs various skating tricks on her scooter in the episode The Show Stoppers, such as jumping off a ramp over a crowd (doing a 360 to lare tailwhip), and she passed her scooter underneath a brance while she jumped over the branch (which she did in slo-motion in the episode).
